Raje requests Guv to allow disabled girl extra time in exam

Jaipur, Feb 16 (PTI) A disabled girl''s attempt to clearher secondary examinations got a boost today with formerRajasthan chief minister Vasundhara Raje urging the stateGovernor to allow extra time for her in the test.

Raje, in a letter to the Governor Shivraj Patil, saidthat 20-year-old Rajkumari, a resident of Amargarh village inBhilwara district, had lost both the arms due in an accidentin childhood, but, with the course of time, she had learnt towrite by holding the pen between fingers of her leg.

She said that Rajkumari''s writing speed was slow henceshe required extra time to write exam papers and so theduration of exam should be extended for her considering thephysical status.

"The girl despite the incident did not lose confidenceand has learnt to write by holding pen between leg''s fingers.

After regular practice, she is now able to write but not asfast as a normal candidate.

"She wants to be educated and become independent, soshe should be allowed to take extra time while appearing insecondary examinations and she should be helped at thegovernment level," Raje requested in the letter.

The girl''s plight had caught Raje''s attention fromlocal media reports.
