Noted scholar K Sachidananda Murthy passes away
Guntur(AP), Jan 24 (PTI) Noted scholar and philosopherProf K Sachidananda Murthy passed away due to old age relatedailments at a private hospital here today.
He was 87.
A recipient of the ''Padma Vibhushan'', Murthy authoredover 50 books on philosophy, including the magnum opus ''Reasonand Rationality in the Adyatha Vedanta''.
Murthy, who hailed from Sangam Jagarlamudi in Gunturdistrict, was a former vice-president of the University GrantsCommission and also an ex-vice-chancellor of the SriVenkateswara University, in Tirupati.
In recognition of his erudition and eminence, AcharyaNagarjuna University started the Kotha Sachidananda MurthyCentre for Studies in Afro-Asian Philosophy.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddyexpressed grief over the death of Murthy and said, in hisdeath, we have lost a great scholar, philosopher and writer.
He also conveyed deep condolences to the bereaved familymembers.
Condoling his death, Telugu Desam Party president NChandrababu Naidu said, "Murthy''s death is a great loss to thefield of academics."
Communist Party of India (Marxist) politburo member B VRaghavulu also expressed his grief over the death of theacademician.
Chandrababu and Raghavulu offered their sympathies to thebereaved family.
