Transparent Cabinet: PM to disclose Mins' assets
Cabinet Secretary KM Chandrasekhar informed all cabinet ministers with a letter, which stated, "The Prime Minister has approved placing of information regarding the details of the assets and liabilities, received from the Members of the Union Council of Ministers, in the public domain."
"Action is being taken by the Prime Minister"s Office to upload the information on the PMO website," it added.
According the government official, the information on the website will be updated annually and all ministers have been requested to furnish the relevant details in "soft copies."
Following the several recent controversies, which shattered UPA government, Singh's decision on assets disclosing is possibly the one take to bring more transparency in the cabinet.
