Constable arrested for smuggling arms to Maoists
Lucknow, Jul 30: Uttar Pradesh police arrested a constable for supplying weapons to Maoists.
Police arrested constable Lok Nath from Sonbhadra district on Friday, Jul 30 for smuggling cartridges from government armouries and selling them to Maoists.
Police officials told that Lok Nath, posted at the Churk Police Lines in Sonbhadra, had close links with a retired sub-inspector Yashodanandan Singh, who was arrested from Rampur district in Apr 2010 on charges of smuggling arms and ammunition from government armouries to Maoists.
"Investigations reveal that Lok Nath also used to work for Yashodanandan Singh. A team of Rampur police arrested Lok Nath in assistance with the Sonbhadra police," said RP Singh, Police Inspector.
"We are interrogating Lok Nath to find his links with other police personnel in Sonbhadra," he added.
