Savli (Gujarat), May 17 (ANI): The Bombardier Transportation production plant at Savli in Gujarat is functioning at full steam, catering to the needs of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Limited (DMRC).
A world-leading manufacturer of innovative transportation solutions, from commercial aircraft and executive jets to rail transportation systems and services, Bombardier Transportation India Limited is an offshoot of Bombardier Corporation, which is headquartered in Canada.
The company has made a mark with its progressive portfolio in the rail industry and innovative products and services.
It is all set to tap the potential market of metro railway networks coming up in several cities such as Bangalore, Chennai and Mumbai.
"The metro market in India is booming with many metro cities planning for it. We also plan to expand to exports after we are able to create a strong foothold in the country and there is lot of competition also, but we will take part in it and also will take the advantage of our local footprints. Our manufacturing cost is also less in comparison of imports," said Rajeev Jyoti, Managing Director, Bombardier Transportation India Limited.
The DMRC has a deal with Bombardier Transportation to supply 80 four car trains prior to the Commonwealth Games to be held in October 2010.
Jyoti said it is a challenge that the firm has taken up with utmost enthusiasm.
He also said that completing the target in the given deadline has been a hallmark of the company.
"Another notable feather in the cap of Bombardier Transportation is the commitment to ecology, economy and efficiency, he added. (ANI)
