Andhra Budget 2010-2011: Highlights
Hyderabad, Feb 20: Undeterred by the fierce protests in the city over the statehood of Telangana, Chief Minister K Rosaiah presented state budget 2010-2011.
Andhra saw yet another tax-free budget, as the CM presented the budget for the sixteenth time.
The key highlights of the 1,13,675 crore budget include:
- Non-plan expenditure of Rs 73, 347 cr
- Revenue surplus of Rs 3,548 cr
- Fiscal deficit of Rs 12, 983 cr
- SEZs planned for Kakinada, Tirupati, Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam
- Setting up of 353 heavy industries is being considered
- A bus rapid transit system in Vijayawada and Vizag
- Computers for all government schools
Stating that allocations to core sectors will remain a priority to the government, K Rosaiah announced the following allocations:
- Free power - Rs 4,500 cr
- Backward areas - Rs 383 crores
- Senior citizens and handicapped - Rs 1,846 cr
- Minorities - Rs. 210 cr
- Scheduled tribes - Rs 93 cr
- Tribal welfare - Rs 902 cr
- BCs - Rs 1032 crores
- OBC welfare - Rs 300 cr
- Education - Rs 3,155 cr
- Roads and highways - Rs 3,000 cr
- Health - Rs 1,820 cr
- Arogyasri - Rs 925 cr
- Pavalavaddi scheme - Rs 200 cr
