Koda scam: IT raid conducted on Soren's aide
Ranchi, Feb 16: In the latest update on the Madhu Koda scam, the residence of Jharkhand Chief Minister Shibu Soren's private secretary M L Pal was raided by the Income Tax department, media report said.
The raid on Pal's residence came as part of the IT raid conducted in 60 places throughout the country in connection with the Rs 4,000 crore money laundering scam involving the Jharkhand's former Chief Minister Madhu Koda.
"Raids are being conducted at 60 places in the country," Director of Income Tax Department, Ujjwal Choudhary, said in a news agency report.
Besides Pal, the properties of two former chiefs of Jharkhand electricity board V N Pandey and S M Verma as well as retired Indian Administrative Service (IAS) bureaucrat and former mines secretary Jaishankar Tiwari have been raided.
The residences of Koda and his officials were raided by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the IT officials on Oct 31, 2009 after a case was registered by ED against Koda and his officials on charges of money laundering and diversion of state funds.
