Dehradun, Dec 17 (ANI): Students of Doon School in Dehradun have come forward for the upliftment of underprivileged rural people.
They are building basic infrastructure in Fatehgram, in collaboration with a Non-Governmental Organizations.
The students were sensitised about the need for helping the downtrodden.
"It (social service) is really exciting and we got immense satisfaction that at least we are doing something tangible. All of them out there rant about alleviation of poverty but in effect they do only lip service. If you really are motivated and want to do something, then you have to really do something," said Ankit Kumar, a student.
The philanthropic gesture of the student has earned them a place in the heart of the villagers.
"The students are doing great help. They have assisted us in renovation and rebuilding of our houses. We feel really grateful them as they do so much for us. The situation of the village is really changing for good now," said Dhanpal, a villager.
The staff of the Doon school is highly supportive and motivating in their student's benevolent enterprise.
"Urban students are entirety innocent about the rural situation. So now when they go into the society they would not forget the conditions of the grassroots and will be willing to help the needy," said Abhishek Shukla, instructor of Doon school. (ANI)
