Lahore, Sep.26 (ANI): Pakistan Ambassador to the United States Hussain Haqqani has once again raised the issue of India being a threat to the country, The Daily Times reports.

In an interview to a private television channel, Haqqani said: "India posed the greatest security threat to Pakistan and the Pakistan Army would play its role in this regard."

It is worth mentioning here that, in the recent past, the United States has been pressing Pakistan to focus more on the internal threat posed by the Taliban and other extremist groups based on its soil rather than remain in 'war preparedness' against India.

The White House has frequently asked Islamabad to focus more on the country's porous border with Afghanistan and shift troops from the eastern Indian border to the lawless western tribal region along the Afghan border.

President Barack Obama has also highlighted that militants based on Pakistani soil pose a serious security threat not only to Pakistan and the region, but also to the United States and the whole world.

"We also face a common threat. The violent extremists within Pakistan pose a threat to the region, to the United States, and to the world. Above all, they threaten the security of the Pakistani people," Obama said while addressing meeting of the 26-member Friends of Democratic Pakistan (FoDP) earlier this week. (ANI)
