Swine Flu may infect over 1bn in 2yrs: WHO
Geneva, Jul 31: The deadly Swine flu virus could infect more than 1 billion people, in a year or two, a top official at the World Health Organisation said.
According to the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control, the global tally of confirmed and reported Swine flu cases as of Wednesday, Jul 31 was 1,75,785 including 1,116 deaths.
Keiji Fukuda, acting assistant director general of the UN agency, in a interview with Kyodo News said, "It is reasonable to make a summary that in past pandemics, over a one-year period, approximately a third, perhaps more, of the population will become infected."
