Kathmandu, May 9 (ANI): The Unified CPN (Maoist) politburo meeting at the Training Centre in Ravi Bhawan in the capital has been put-off till Sunday.

A meeting was held for about three hours today during which the latest political situation in Nepal was discussed.

Earlier, the Politburo had stressed that the party should organise more protest programmes to exert pressure on President Ram Baran Yadav to correct his 'unconstitutional' move to reinstate the Army chief, General Rookmangad Katawal.

Most of the politburo members were of the unanimous view that the party should intensify protests from the parliament and launch a struggle from streets until 'civilian supremacy' is upheld through the sacking of the Army chief.

The meeting also delved into important issues like army integration, Constitution writing and proper conclusion of the peace process.

The 45-member politburo is the powerful body of the Maoist party's secretariat.

Meanwhile, the Madhesi Janadhikar Forum (MJF) is due to take its official decision on new government formation today.

The meeting is expected to decide whether to support the Maoists or the UML-Nepali Congress (NC) alliance in the new government.

Meanwhile, the MJF political committee meeting is underway prior to the press conference scheduled for this afternoon.

The MJF had also formed a three member talks team to discuss the new government formation with the major political parties.

The MJF has 53 seats at the Constituent Assembly (CA) and its official stance over the new government formation holds the key at a time when the Nepali Congress has been advocating for a UML leadership in the new government, Kantipur reported. (ANI)
