Google to layoff 200 employees worldwide
San Francisco, Mar 27: Search engine giant Google Inc is planning to sack 200 workers worldwide in its largest round of layoffs after feeling the pinch of global recession. In a blog post Google mentioned that the cuts will affect workers globally and said that employees will have a chance to find other positions within the firm. Matt Furman, Google spokesperson said that company is not planning further cuts.
The company took the decision to cut cost as firms reduced spending on online advertising as a result of recession, which is Google's main source of revenue.
"It was getting hard to get things done quickly and efficiently," Furman said. “At the same time, we were over- invested in some areas. Those investments were based on assumptions about economic growth that made sense at the time, but don"t anymore." said Matt Furman.
