Sri Lankan army seize LTTE arms factory
Colombo, Jan 20: Srilanka army has seized a sophisticated boat manufacturing unit and a highly-fortified camp of the guerrillas in the embattled northern region on Sunday, Jan 18, . This gave a new hope for the Mahinda Rajapaksa govt's military campaign against Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE).
Brig Nandana Udawatta led the troop. The troop entered the South of Puthukkudiyiruppu jungle vicinity in Mullaittivu on Jan 18. An LTTE camp and boat manufacturing factory of the rebels were capatured in the Maruthampuvel area.

seven
small
boats
used
for
suicide
missions
inside
the
facility
suspected
to
be
funded
by
foreign
NGOs,"
the
Defence
Ministry
said.
Six
over
head
bunkers,
two
permanent
buildings
and
six
temporary
huts
were
seized
by
the
security
forces
after
a
day-long
clashes
with
LTTE
.
The
security
personnel
also
found
a
wreckage
of
a
helicopter
in
the
Mullaitivu
jungles.
It
is
said
that
helicopter
might
have
been
used
by
LTTE
for
training
purposes.
In the north of Muthiyankadu tank area, the security forces also took six T-56 riffles, two light machine guns (LMG), one RPG launcher, eight claymore mines and four grenades.
