Centre fails to combat terrorism in country: Biman
Kolkata, Nov 27 (UNI) The Left Front Committee in Bengal today condemned the terrorist attacks in Mumbai and said the Congress-led UPA government at the Centre failed to combat militancy with an iron hand.
''We feel that the continuous terrorist attacks are part of the conspiracy of imperialist forces trying to destablise our democratic system. Therefore, people in general should be united against the terrorist activities in this critical situation before the country,'' Left Front chairman Biman Basu said in a statement here.
He said, the terrorists have attacked 12 places, including five-star hotels, restaurants, hospitals, police and railway stations in which, more than hundred people were killed, including several police officers, and more than three hundred injured.
Several foreigners were kept hostage which was a matter of concern for the country, he added.
The Centre failed to tackle terrorism as nothing substantial has been done so far to combat terrorism and terrorists were not scared at all in carrying out their activities like serial bomb blasts in Assam, Tripura, Malegaon, Delhi and Jaipur, where several people lost their lives, Mr Basu said.
''We urge the democracy loving people of the state to organise procession and rally throughout the state against the incident,'' he added.
