Nigerian nationals held for not possessing passports
Coechbehar, Nov 23 (UNI) Two Nigerian nationals were taken into police custody today for not possessing passports and other valid documents to prove their identity.
Damian Ude (34), a resident of Legaos, and Pius Imma (24), a resident of Adia, both cotton merchants, claimed to have come to India to buy cotton fabrics.
They lost their way and boarded a train to Coochbehar unknowingly.
On reaching here they tried to put up at a hotel.
Teh hotel authorities, however, did not allow the duo to stay there for want of papers and instead informed the police.
''The duo has been taken into custody. Furthur investigation is on. The Nigerian High Commission will be contacted shortly to facilitate the investigation process,'' Additional S P, Coochbehar, Adesh Biswas, informed mediapersons.
