Police canecharges students demanding bus facilities
Kurukshetra, Nov 18 (UNI) Police today resorted to mild lathicharge to disperse college students who had blocked the traffic on Kurukshetra-Pipli-Yamunanagar road for about 40 minutes to protest against the Haryana Roadways drivers ignoring the bus stop near their college.
The police officers first tried to mediate between the agitating students of Bhagwan Parshuram College and the local bus depot general manager, who however, was not available in his office.
After half an hour's efforts, the police forcibly removed the protesting students from dharna and chased them away with mild use of baton, police sources said.
A student leader said the students, most of them from rural areas, often got delayed and miss the classes as the drivers did not stop even the local buses near the college stop. The students warnedthat they would be forced to re-launch the agitation if the situation did not improve.
