Kannada classics in IFFI Indian Panorama, Retrospectives
Mumbai, Nov 15 (UNI) As a befitting tribute to the 75th year celebrations of Kannada Cinema, the International Film Festival India, IFFI 2008, beginning in Panaji on November 22, will screen over a dozen Kannada film classics in the Panaroma and Retrospective segments.
Girish Kasaravalli's 'Gulabi Talkies', Umashankar Swamy's 'Banada Neralu' and Abhay Simha's 'GubbachhigaLu' have been selected for screening by a seven-member jury headed by K N T Sastry, from amongst the 104 entries in the Indian panorama section.
T S Nagabharana's 'Naagamandala', Girish Kasaravalli's 'Dweepa' Hunsur Krishnamurthy's mythological classic 'Babruvahana', S Siddhalingaiah's 'Bootayyana Maga Ayyu' are among the films being screened during the 10-day long film festival.
IFFI 2008 is also paying tribute to veteran multilingual star B Sarojadevi hailing from Karnataka.
