Kalaraj Mishra receives life threat, UP govt probing
Lucknow, Nov 12 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh government is enquiring into the threat received by senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader Kalraj Mishra through a letter attributed to Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI).
Mr Mishra, Rajya Sabha MP and in charge of election affairs in UP, received a threat here, which said he would be killed as he was opposed to the SIMI.
The BJP leader has requested the state government in a letter addressed to UP Principal Secretary (Home) Kunwar Fateh Bahadur Singh that he should be provided adequate security in view of the threat.
''We are probing the contents of the letter and threat perception to the senior politician from UP. Proper security would be provided to him if found necessary,'' an official spokesman told UNI here this evening.
Meawnhile, Mr Mishra said that the threat letter reached his Lucknow residence three days ago and he forwarded it to the state government for necessary action. No security was provided to him so far, he said.
