Kolkata, Nov 11 (UNI) Tollywood sensation Rituparna Sengupta today appreciated the concept of film marketing during film festivals for the promotion of regional entertainment industry.
Speaking here at the inaugural session of the 'Film Market' during the 14th edition of Kolkata Film Festival, she said the concept of film marketing is unique as the entertainment industry in India is becoming increasingly attuned to the tenets of synthesizing commerce and creativity.
''Nowhere is this trend more visible than in the Indian motion picture industry,'' she said adding, the concept of film mart here is an initiative which will lead to new horizons.
In his keynote address, Mr Nilanjan Chatterjee, Director, Kolkata Film Festival said the entertainment sector in the country has graduated from being a platform for social interaction to an industry with phenomenal economic prospects.
''The growing economic importance of the sector has essentially been a function of the cultural and economic changes that brought progressive alignment of the social bearing and lifestyle of the Indian population with the developed world,'' he added.
Speaking on the occasion eminent Director Goutam Ghose appreciated the significant role played by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and Patton, the official sponsors for organising such a wonderful fest.
''Cinema is the creation of scientists and technologists as they put light, sound, action together first in black and white motion picture format and later converted it into colourful movies on celluloid. But these developments were necessitated as per the demands of the market,'' he maintained.
Also speaking on the occasion CII Eastern region chairman Sandip Chakraborty and Sanjay Budhia, MD, Patton focussed on the importance of regional market and its commercial viability in the entertainment industry.
