Chandigarh Carnival kicks off on Nov 22

Chandigarh, Oct 31 (UNI) The theme of the Chandigarh Carnival to be held on November 22 and 23 will be the "Fun and Games".

The Carnival would be inaugurated by the Punjab Governor and UT Administrator Lt Gen (retd) S F Rodrigues at the Leisure Valley here.

A meeting to review the preparations of this popular annual event was held under the Chairmanship of UT Home Secretary Ram Niwas here today.

The Chandigarh College of Arts will design the main entrance gate of the Carnival at Leisure Valley in accordance with the theme " Fun and Games" alongwith with pictures of Chandigarh and the partner State.

The three Academies namely Chandigarh Sangeet Natak Academy, Chandigarh Lalit Kala Academy and Chandigarh Sahitya Kala Academy would put their exhibits depicting the streams of art during the Festival. The mega musical nite on Novermber 22 and mega laughter show on November 23 at Leisure Valley will be the main attraction of the Carnival this year.

Carnival floats will begin their journey from Leisure Valley passing through Matka Chowk to Cricket Stadium Chowk and back to Rose Garden, the finishing point.

The meeting chaired by Mr Ram Niwas was attended by senior UT officials besides officers from the tourism departments of Punjab and Haryana.
