Workshop for diaster reduction, management on October 29
New Delhi, Oct 27 (UNI) The first Partnership Development Workshop under the Global Facility for Disaster Reduction and Recovery (GFDRR) South-South Cooperation Programme will be held here from October 29 to share experience and knowledge, and establishing collaboration among governments, institutions, networks and communities The workshop would be hosted by the Ministry of Home Affairs and the World Bank.
GFDRR South-South Cooperation Programme is a major initiative to facilitate collaboration among low and middle income countries to mainstream disaster risk reduction and recovery into the development planning and programming.
The workshop will be attended by participants from around 24 countries across the world. More than 50 Disaster Risk Reduction experts and practitioners will be participating in the workshop.
Senior officials of the Home Ministry including Secretary (Border Management) Jarnail Singh will attend the workshop. In addition, participation of the representatives from the World Bank, UNISDR and UNDP will also be seen. They will facilitate the various sessions of the workshop.
This workshop will help understand better the scope of GFDRR South-South Cooperation Programme and its expected outputs and outcomes. It will also help identify the areas of cooperation and modalities of partnership.
