TN: Films Division celebrates 75th b'day from Oct 24

Thiruvananthapuram, Oct 22: The Diamond Jubilee celebration of the Films Division, a premier media unit under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, will be held on Friday, Oct 24. Kerala State Chalachithra Academy Chairman K R Mohanan would inaugurate the function, which would be attended by KSFDC Managing Director N Ayyappan, Documentary Director Vinod Mangara and other prominent personalities, a press release said on Tuesday, Oct 21.

As part of the celebration, the Films Division is organising a two-day film festival in major cities of the country in which documentaries and animation films of internationally acclaimed directors would be shown, the release said.

On the first day, after the inaugural function, a documentary by well-known Malayalam filmmaker Adoor Gopalakrishnan on Kalarmandalam Gopi, Shaji N Karun's Documentary on G Aravindan, five other documentaries and two animation films would be screened.

On the second day, documentary lovers would get a chance to watch films by directors like Shyam Benegal, Mr Gopalakrishnan, Shivan and Suresh Menon.

Three animation films would also be screened on the second day, it added.
