Shimla, Oct 18 (UNI) The Himachal Division of Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) has received Rs 500 crore from the Centre to facilitate ''Aam Adami Bima Yojana'' in the State.

A total of Rs 1,000 crore has been sanctioned for the scheme, which was launched in the state by Union Finance Minister P Chitamberam last year.

Himachal Division Senior General Manager RC Meena in a press conference here today said only 3,000 policies under the Aam Adami Bima Yojan had been released in the state, whereas the target of the scheme was to achieve about 35,000 policies.

Aam Adami Bima Yojana scheme is for the landless small scale organised workers, which is being issued with help of nodal agencies like Self Help Group, Aanganwari, Gram Panchayat and NGOs in the state.

He said the scheme had not achieved the expected results due to lack of interest by the nodal agencies and less number of landless workers in the state.

As many as 45 occupations fall under the scheme, which is 100 per cent subsidised.

Mr Meena said LIC is also carrying Jai shree Bima Yojana in the state for the small scale industries and workers who are organised through Self Help Group and registered under cooperative societies in the state.
