Mah Govt appoints Kurdukar committee to probe into Dow plant
Mumbai, Oct 16 (UNI) Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh has announced the constitution of a fact-finding committee under the chairmanship of S P Kurdukar, a retired Justice of Supreme Court, to examine the proposed R &D centre of Dow Chemicals at Chakan in Pune district.
The other members of the committee include Dr S K Gupta, Head (Environmental Department) of IIT-Powai, S B Khandale, Additional Director of Ground Water Survey and Development, Pune, Sanjay Khandare, Member Secretary of Maharashtra Pollution Control Board, an official release said here today.
The Deprtment of Environment of state government had issued the order in this regard yesterday.
This committee would also look into the complaints, objections of the local people and submit the report within a month from its constitution, the release added.
