Chennai, Oct 14: Tamil superstar Rajnikanth on Monday, Oct 13 said nobody could pressurise or compel him to plunge into politics in the wake of some of his fans in Coimbatore floating a political party.
Warning action against the fans at Coimbatore who floated Desiya Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam recently, Rajnikanth, in a statement said, "nobody can pressurise or compel me to enter politics. But if I take a decision to enter politics, nobody can prevent it". He said his fans were free to join any party of their choice and if he decided to enter politics, they were free to join him.
His fans, enthused by the entry of film stars into politics in Tamil Nadu and in a neighbouring state, wanted him to enter politics, he said apparently referring to Vijaykant and Saratkumar in Tamil Nadu and Chiranjeevi in Andhra Pradesh.
"I am totally involved in the production of Endiran (his latest movie under production directed by Shankar). My fans are free to join any party of their choice but I will not allow them to float a party in my name, a flag or use my photograph", he said. He instructed his fans associations to expel those, who announced the formation of a political party.
