IM condemns use of force against peaceful agitators in Kashmir
Srinagar, Oct 11 (UNI) Ittihadul-Muslimeen (IM), a constituent of moderate Hurriyat Conference (HC), today strongly condemned use of force by CRPF and police on peaceful activists in the city yesterday during which two persons were killed and scores wounded.
Former chairman of the HC and IM chief Maulana Mohammad Abbas Ansari in a statement here today said security forces used force against agitators, killing two youths, at a time when Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh was in the town.
Terming it barbaric, Maulana Ansari questioned the zero tolerance promise of Dr Singh and said people, particuarly youths, were being targeted as many of them were killed in fake encounters while hundreds disappeared.
During the recent peaceful processions more than 50 people were killed and hundreds wounded in CRPF and police firing in the valley, he alleged.
