New Delhi, Oct 10 : Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) Chief and Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan has advocated Central rule in Orissa in the wake of attacks on Christian community.

Paswan urged the Left Front to muster a three fourths majority in Parliament in favour of the move.

"Left parties should make up their mind on imposing Article 356. Although, from the beginning they have been opposing 356, not in this case but ideologically, in my opinion it's pertinent to invoke 356 in Orissa," Paswan said after showing solidarity with Christians at a protest meet on Thursday.

He also favoured a ban on Bajrang Dal and Vishwa Hindu Parishad for their alleged role in fanning violence against the Christians.

"I am fully confident that a ban would be imposed on Bajrang Dal and Vishwa Hindu Parishad. It might take some time because the Home (Interior) Ministry is collecting facts about those who have appeared on TV, or in newspapers or have said something openly. Then, I think action will be taken," Paswan said.

Violence began in Orissa with the murder of a Hindu leader Laxmanananda Saraswati in August that sparked weeks of deadly clashes, a killing which is also blamed on Maoist rebels. The violence against Christians in Orissa was followed by similar attacks in Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka and Kerala.
