Shillong, Sept 29 (UNI) BJP's Prime Ministerial candidate Lal Krishna Advani today asked all the non-Congress parties to come under a common umbrella to oust the Congress in the coming Lok Sabha elections.

'' There is a need for other states in the north east and the country as a whole to replicate what non-Congress parties in Meghalaya has done to keep the Congress out of power,'' Mr Advani said, addressing his nationwide ''Vijay Sankalp Yatra'' here, amidst unprecedented security cover.

The BJP leader, who had earlier met Chief Minister Donkupar Roy and former Lok Sabha Speaker P A Sangma, said he had been informed by Mr Sangma how the non-Congress parties have united and formed the government keeping out the Congress from forming the government.

The Congress, which is the largest party in the 60-member House had failed to be in power in the state, despite having 27, including two Independent MLAs.

In fact, senior BJP Kiren Rijiju told reporters that the BJP had decided that it would not field its candidate either for Shillong or Tura Lok Sabha seats.

'' Mr Advani had told Chief Minister Donkupar Roy and NCP leader Purno A Sangma that the non-Congress parties in Meghalaya will field a common candidate who will be part of the BJP-led NDA,'' he said.

Mr Advani said that the Asom Gana Parishad and BJP are ready to work together in the next Lok Sabha election to defeat the Congress.
