BSP activist shot dead in Allahabad
Allahabad, Sep 24 (UNI) A Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) activist was shot dead in broad daylight in Dhoomanganj area here today.
When Neeraj Singh alias Sonu (28) debouched from his house this morning to attend the BSP's nationwide 'Jan Chetna Andolan' at the party's district head office, masked men opened fire killing him on the spot, sources said.
An enraged mob of BSP activists and local residents later created ruckus to press for the accused's immediate arrest.
When senior police officials reached the spot to pacify the mob, it resorted to pelting stones, in which a police van was damaged.
The mob also torched two roadways buses, a motorcycle and police van.
Neeraj -- son of Devraj Singh and resident of Pipari area in Kaushambhi district -- was living in Meera Patti since last 9 years with his family. He had some an old rivalry with Deepu of the same locality over money.
Police have, meanwhile, arrested a person in this regard and investigations continuing.
