New Delhi, Sep 19 (UNI) For the third day today, rain and thundershowers maintained cool weather in Delhi with the mercury plummeting further to 27.5 degrees Celsius.
The ongoing spell of rains, which began with heavy showers on Wednesday, continued today with light to medium rains again hitting the capital since morning.
The rain and thundershowers brought down the maximum temperature further from 29.4 degrees Celsius yesterday to 27.5 degrees, seven degrees below normal.
The minimum was also recorded one degree below normal at 23 Degrees.
Though just 2.1 mm of rainfall was recorded till 1730 hours, it was enough to maintain a coolness in the air despite humidity prevailing at a high level of 100 per cent.
The cool air in the city could prevail over the next few days with weathermen forecasting more rains in the next couple of days.
''Isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely over Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi during the next 24 hours,''the weathermen said.
The Met office has forecast a generally cloudy sky in Delhi during the next 24 hours with few spells of rain and thundershowers in Delhi, one or two of which are likely to be heavy.
