Agartala, Sep 9 (UNI) The Northeast Development Finance (NEDFi), one of the leading institutions for financial support, has taken initiatives to export organic farming products in a bid to promote natural cultivation in northeastern region.
The NEDFi officials here today said as part of the mission, the organisation had recently brought a group of entrepreneurs from neighbouring countries in the region, which included Thailand-based Asia Strategy Forum(ASF) Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Noritada Morita, also the former Director General of Asian Development Bank.
''The North East, apart from getting plenty of water and sunshine throughout the year, has a good quality soil, which contributes to the basic needs of organic farming. There are many cities within easy reach in the region where the business opportunities could be explored,'' officials said.
They stated that the ASF had taken up an ambitious project to link all the major areas in the Greater Mekong sub-region with a network of good roads within 2015.
The country would also be connected with the region through Myanmar, ushering in business opportunities, they said adding the ''cooperation initiatives'' would begin in villages along the international borders.
''If one village has a plenty of clean and drinking water supply, it could share its resources with another village across the border.
Similarly, a village having surplus power supply could cooperate other villages,'' the officials added.
