Joint Doctrine for Amphibious Operations released

New Delhi, Sep 9 (UNI) In order to institutionalise integration among armed forces Chairman Chiefs of Staff Committee and Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Sureesh Mehta today released guidelines on how planning and conducting of amphibious operations needs to be done to achieve full synergistic effect during joint combat.

The 'Joint Doctrine for Amphibious Operations', under preparation since 2004, lays down the commonality between the three Services for the smooth conduct of amphibious operations, according to the Defence Ministry.

Lessons learnt during the joint amphibious exercises, conducted since 2004, have also been incorporated in the Doctrine.

Chief of Army Staff General Deepak Kapoor, Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal F H Major, Chief of Integrated Defence Staff Lt Gen H S Lidder and other senior officials of the three forces were also present on the occasion.

Furthering the direction of integration among armed forces Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff played a vital role by streamlining their training, operations, financial planning/budgeting and overseeing the tri-Service institutions.
