Rs 29 cr worth art work sold at Saffronart online auction
Mumbai, Sep 6 (UNI) At least Rs 29 crore (USD 7.2 million) worth art works went under the hammer at Saffronart Autumn Online Auction of Contemporary Indian Art.
The top five lots of this auction, held recently, were Subodh Gupta's ''Idol Thief I'', which went for Rs 4.28 crores and his ''Saat Samundra Par (Across the Seven Seas)'', which sold for Rs 3.4 crores, T V Santhosh's ''When your Target Cries for Mercy'' that went for Rs 2.8 crores, Anju Dodiya's ''The Site'' for Rs 1.06 crores and Sudhir Patwardhan's ''The Clearing'' for Rs 93.15 lakhs.
Over 575 registered bidders from 32 countries set world auction records for 18 Indian artists including Anju Dodiya, Sudhir Patwardhan, G R Iranna, Mithu Sen, Anita Dube, Sudarshan Shetty, Anil Revri, Tushar Joag, and Manisha Parekh among others.
