61 injured in bus accident
Dharamshala, Sep 2 (UNI) At least 61 passengers were injured, 12 seriously, when a overloaded bus they were travelling in rolled down in a gorge near Chambi on Pathankot Mandi National Highway today.
According to Kangra District Police Chief Atul Fulzele, the private bus was going from Dhraman to Kangra when the driver of the bus failed to negotiate the curve and the bus rolled down into the gorge.
The injured, including 27 women passengers were admitted to Dr RP Government Medical College Tanda, Zonal Hospital Dharamshala and CHC Shahpur. No loss of life has been reported so far.
Kangra District Police Chief Atul Fulzele said that the 42 seater bus was overloaded when the accident took place.
The police has arrested the driver and a case under section 279 and 337 of the IPC has been registered against him.
Meanwhile, Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Sarveen Chaudhary expressing grief over the accident said that District Administration had been directed to provide all possible assistance and medical services to the victims.
