Panaji, Aug 31 (UNI) MP Shantaram Naik today pleaded with the state government for initiating steps to preserve the invaluable art works of renowned tiatrist Joao Agostinho Fernandes of Goa with immediate effect.
He also appealed to the authorities to take up repair and restoration work of the artist's house, now in shambles at Borda-Margao.
The Rajya Sabha member had visited the house and interacted with the daughter-in-law and grand daughter of the late artist.
Mr Naik said that Fernandes was a legend in the field of tiatre arts and was an institution by himself. His work of art needs to be preserved by using modern techniques besides keeping safe his work in original form.
