Sixth World Malayalee Conference in Singapore
Singapore, Aug 23 (UNI) Singapore President S R Nathan joined some 500 Malayalees from 20 countries at a gala dinner for the two-day Sixth World Malayalee Conference being held here from August 22 to 24.
Speaking at the opening ceremony yesterday, Singapore Foreign Minister George Yeo has urged the local Malayalee community to use their global network and knowledge of markets to shape the new economy.
He noted the community's long standing tradition of reaching out to communities far beyond their own.
South Indian actor Shobana Chandrakumar and pop singer Usha Uthup performed at the event, also attended by Kerala's Forest, Wild Life Protection and Housing Minister Binoy Viswam and Public Works Minister Mons Joseph also attended the two-day conference.
The Malayalee conference focuses on collaborative and investment opportunities for the community entrepreneurs.
