Former AIADMK District Panchayat Union Chairperson joins DMK

Chennai, Aug 23 (UNI) Ms Malarvizhi, Chairperson of Andipatti Panchayat Union belonging to the opposition AIADMK today joined DMK in the presence of party president and Chief Minister M Karunanidhi here today.

Ms Malarvizhi, who faced the wrath of the party high command for participating in a function addressed by Mr Karunanidhi recently in Madurai, quit the party and joined DMK. She called on Mr Karunanidhi at his Gopalapuam residence and joined the party by presenting him a shawl.

Earlier, she had called on Chief Minister's Madurai-based son M K Azhagiri in Madurai last evening and expressed her desire to join the party.

Earlier, after coming to know that Ms Malarvizhi had participated in the function addressed by Mr Karunanidhi, AIADMK General Secretary J Jayalalithaa had expelled her from the party.
