VHP-BJP Chakka Jam evokes mixed reponse in J'khand
Ranchi, Aug 13 (UNI) The 'Chakka Jam', called by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and BJP today in support of the demand to hand over the proposed land to the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB), evoked mixed response across Jharkhand.
Official sources informed that Chatra was the only district where the vehicular movement was disrupted for about two hours as BJP supporters blocked the main square of the city.
Vehicles did not ply on the roads connecting Hazaribagh, Ranchi and the neighbouring Gaya district of Bihar.
However, the agitation hardly registerd any impact in Bokaro, Koderma and Hazaribagh.
In the state capital, the agitators demonstrated at HB road and a few other places. They also tried to disrupt the vehicular movement.
Police sources said the 'Chakka Jam' was peaceful and no untoward incident was reported from anywhere in the state.
The VHP and BJP had called for a two-hour 'Chakka Jam' from 0900 hours to 1100 hours across the country to protest the withdrawal of the land transfer order to the SASB.
