KYKL claims responsibility for killing two CRPF personnel
Imphal, Aug 8 (UNI) The proscribed Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup (KYKL) has claimed responsibility for killing two CRPF personnel at Kotlien village on the Imphal-Jiribam section of NH-53 yesterday.
Police said the militants took away an LMG rifle with 30 live rounds and an Insas rifle with 20 live rounds of ammunition. The rebels were armed and the CRPF jawans of the 109 battalion Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) were on a foot patrol when the ultras struck.
An injured jawan is fighting for his life at the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences, Imphal.
The deceased personnel were identified as T Modhurama Nigam of Tamil Nadu and Manjunath of Karnataka.
The injured was identified as Suman Devnath(21) of West Bengal.
He suffered a bullet injury on his leg.
Combing operations were still on to nab those responsible for the ambush, police said.
