INLD files objections against power hike
Chandigarh, Aug 8 (UNI) The Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) today filed its objections and suggestions against the hike in electricity rates with the Haryana Electricity Regulatory Commission (HERC) here today.
INLD leader and former finance minister Sampat Singh, INLD spokesman Ram Pal Majra, former MLA Jasbir Mallore, Panchkula district INLD president Pradeep Chaudhary were among the three dozen party leaders who filed their objections.
INLD leaders would plead electricity consumers case on August 18 public hearing so that relief could be brought to consumers.
Prof Sampat Singh and other INLD leaders in their objections pleaded that HERC should constitute the State Advisory Committee, whose advice on the issue of revision of tariff to the Commission must be mandatory.
''Advisory Committee is necessary as per the Electricity Act and it performs various responsibilities like matters relating to quality, continuity, and extent of service provided by the licencees, compliance by the licencees with the conditions and requirements of their license, protection of consumer interest, electricity supply and overall standards of performance by utilities,'' they said.
