Application for post of Bharat Bhavan Chairman rejected
Jabalpur, Aug 5 (UNI) The Madhya Pradesh High Court today quashed an application demanding stay on election to the post of chairman of Bhopal-based multi-art centre Bharat Bhavan in Mumbai tomorrow.
Hearing a petition by Mr Dayaprakash Sinha challenging dissolving of previous trust and constitution of new trust of Bharat Bhavan, a division bench comprising Chief Justice A K Patnaik and Justice Ajit Singh today rejected the application, which was presented along with the petition.
However, the court directed that trustees be made respondents and provided arrangement that appointment of trustees and election of chairman would be subject to decision over the petition.
The petition told the court that the notification issued on March 1 for dissolving the old trust was unconstitutional.
Six new trustees -- Pandit Jasraj, Hema Malini, Gokulotsav Maharaj, Amritlal Vegad, Ramesh Patange and Raj Dutt -- were appointed after the government filed petition in the court.
The petitioner demanded that the new trust be declared illegal, new trustees be made respondents and putting stay on election of chairman of the new trust.
