BJP tells Speaker to take action against cross voting
Puducherry, Jul 30: Bharathiya Janata Party (BJP) National Council member in charge of Puducherry Dhananjaykumar on Wednesday, July 30 urged Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee to initiate stringent action against the MPs who violated the party whip during the confidence vote in Parliament on July 22 as the action attracted provisions of the anti-defection act.
Addressing a press conference here, the former Union Minister said that eventhough the UPA Government had managed to win the trust vote, it had lost morally. The incidents that took place in Parliament on July 22 would prove to be a new black mark in the political history of the country, he said. Mr Dhananjaykumar said anti-national and terrorist activities were spreading in the country and after the blasts in Bangalore and Ahmedabad, the BJP had got information that the terrorists were trying to sneek into Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Kerala. The Centre had utterly failed in disseminating intelligence information, he charged.
He claimed that the failure on the part of the Union Government to execute Afsal Guru, convicted in Parliament attack case, had emboldened terrorists to spread their tentacles.
