One arrested with explosive material in TN

Tiruneleveli, Jul 27 (UNI) City Police today arrested a suspect here for possessing Improvised Explosive Device (IED) and other explosive materials, meant for producing bombs.

City Police Commissioner Manjunatha told UNI that acting on a special intelligence report, they arrested S Shiek Abdul Kapoor (39) of Pettai area from a hide-out and seized the explosives from his possession.

Preliminary investigations revealed that till recently, he was working in a private firm at Chennai and came here a few days ago.

Further questioning was on to find out if he had connections with any banned terrorist movement, inside or outside the country, he added.

Kapoor's arrest had great significance following the serial bomb blasts at Bangalore and Ahmedabad in the last two days.
