Bhatia denies human bomb involvement in blast at Civil hospital
Ahmedabad, Jul 27 (UNI) City Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Ashish Bhatia today denied the probability that a humanbomb had caused the powerful explosion that ripped through a car in the precincts of Civil Hospital late last night.
Mr Bhatia told UNI, ''The explosion that occurred in a Wagon-R car, in which several people were killed and large number sustained injuries, was not caused by a humanbomb, as the Crime Branch sleuths and FSL experts in their investigations this morning have found a timer-device, through which it was blasted, from the spot.'' Mr Bhatia said, ''Initially police officials suspected that the explosion was caused by a humanbomb, as a human head with rest of the body completely blown up was found at the blast site. But this in fact was result of the explosion, as the man was present near the car.'' Mr Bhatia said the explosion was so powerful that people present near the site died or sustained serious injuries.
Besides this, windows of vehicles parked nearby and glass panels of trauma wards completely smashed, Mr Bhatia added.
