Cong seeks god's blessing for Centre's regime
Mirzapur, Jul 21 (UNI) Leaving no stone unturned to remain in power at the Centre, Congress leaders were performing three-day 'Yagya' at the world famous Vindhyachal shrine since yesterday.
The massive 'yagya' is being performed by 51 Brahamins. Many Congress leaders were participating in the ritual.
Clearing the doubts of the religious ritual being performed in the absence of party chief, the head priest said, ''physical presence of the person desiring to perform the yagya for the cause is not required.'' Anyone on his behalf can take the ''anushthan'' (oath), he maintained.
Besides, the yagya was also being done to oblige Goddesses Kali and Astabhuja here.
Earlier also, several ''anushthans'' were done by Samajwadi Party leader Rajnarayan after he defeated late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in election.
Similarly, in 1980, the Congress performed prayers and Yagya here, after Indira Gandhi resumed power.
Other political leaders, who had performed anushthans here are Uma Bharati, Kalyan Singh and Amar Singh.
Besides, megastar Amitabh Bachchan along with his family also organised the religious ritual for the welfare of his son and family.
