Shiv sena demands resignation of SSC board chief
Mumbai, Jul 7 (UNI) Shiv Sena leader Diwakar Rawte has demanded resignation of the Maharashtra State Secondary School certificate Examination Board Chief Vijaysheela Sardesai over the issue of glaring 'mistakes' in the 10th standard textbooks.
In a letter to the Minister for Education Vasant Purke, Rawte, who is leader of Shiv sena in the Legislature Council, alleged the new 10th standard Marathi textbook, brought out by the Board, carries 'innumerable and grave mistakes'.
The book also mentions Shivaji Maharaj and Babasaheb Ambedkar in a trivial and derogatory way, he claimed. ''As the Board Chief, Sardesai has not followed proper procedures in bringing out the new book, She should take responsibility for the grave mistakes and step down,'' said Rawte.
He also reminded Mr Purke that when similar mistakes were found in an earlier Marathi book, the then Chief of Board Vasant Kalpande was sacked. ''Why should the same yardstick not be applied to Sardesai'', he demanded.
