3 narcotic smugglers awarded 10-year jail term
Bettiah, Jul 6(UNI) A local court awarded 10-year imprisonment and slapped a fine of Rs one lakh each on three people in connection with trafficking of narcotic substances.
Additional district judge of fast track court Ramesh Mishra yesterday sentenced Rakesh Singh, Mukesh Singh and Mohammad Kasim to rigorous 10 year imprisonment after they were found guilty in smuggling of 2.5 quintals of ganja.
While Rakesh hailed from Kushinagar district of Uttar Pradesh, the other two were the residents of west Champaran district.
According to the charges, all the three were arrested for their involvement in smuggling of Ganja under Chanpatia police station in West Champaran district on july 29, 2003.
The truck used for carrying the narcotics was also seized.
