Mumbai, Jul 3 (UNI) Even as the entertainment market is flooded with channels and new players are coming in, most of the new channels have preferred an important time slot for the mythological serials.
It was in the early 80's, when Doordarshan was the sole channel in the country that Ramanand Sagar's Ramayan, followed by B R Chopra's Mahabharat glued the entire country to the 'idiot box'.
The roads used to be empty on Sunday morning, when the serial was aired.
Now the new hindi entertainment channels NDTV Imagine, INX and even the new channel COLORS, which is to be launched from July 21, have given their slots for the mythological serials.
While the same Sagar family is already airing Ramayan, with a new star cast, on NDTV Imagine, from July 7 Mahabharat will be aired on INX which will be produced by soap opera queen Ekta Kapoor and directed by Dr Chandraprakash Dwivedi.
Even, COLORS, which has a show like 'Khataron ka Khiladi' featuring Akshay Kumar with 13 beauties, has preferred to give a prime time slot for the serial 'Jai Srikrishna'.
