Power generation resumes at Nathpa Jhakri power station
Shimla, Jun 19 (UNI) Power Generation at the country's largest 1500 MW Nathpa Jhakri Power Station has been resumed today with four (250 MW each) units commencing operations.
All the six 250 MW units of the power station had been shut down on June 1 with silt level in river Satluj crossing the permissible limits of 4000 PPM, Deputy General Manager (CC) V K Verma said here today.
''Four of the six machines have been put in operation with silt level receding around 4500 PPM. The other two machines will also put in operations as soon as the silt level recedes further,'' he said.
All the beneficiary states namely Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, J&K, Uttarakhand, Delhi, HP and Chandigarh are now being suplied electricity through the Northern Grid.
