Melbourne, June 10 : Two bikini-wearing women, who admit they have little knowledge about politics, are standing against each other in a British by-election - seeking to bring about a positive change in the system through beauty.
Louise Cole and Amanda Harrington are going head-to-head as dual candidates in the June 26 poll, which their Miss Great Britain Party claims is an electoral first.
The party's manifesto 'seeks to empower women and make Britain in general and Westminster in particular more glamorous places'.
"Beautiful women and those who work to make themselves look beautiful do have the power to get things done," the Daily Telegraph quoted Cole, as telling The Sun.
"Beauty can be the spur to action - as has been recognised in European legislatures where beautiful women abound in major government jobs and can be seen to be getting things changed in a positive way," she added.
Harrington added: "I am not a politician and I'll be the first to admit that it is not my specialist subject."
"But I pride myself on being savvy and I can be hugely influential - especially with men," she said.
